Let's have dark times
01:52
|
|||
Plagues may come
Cars may crash
Earthquakes are gonna shake our grounds
but let's have dark times
you and I
Let’s have dark times
I need to turn off the alarm in my head now
Throw my phone into a hole
and never get a new one
go where police helicopters never gone before
go where the wild rivers roar
go where wild boars stares up to the sky for the comfort of stars
see them shine in your eyes now
the lights from your screen
but I remember your thighs now
in a hotel room in Greece
playing cards on the balcony
they don’t show your smile riding that red bike
in the movies
but they should
the night the dog chased us down
and it almost killed us
we were shit scared in the dark
we never returned those bikes right
they didn’t have lights on the road from Zakinthos to Kalamaki
but I got a feeling they have it now
Fancy hotels where you can watch the world die from a safe distance
but I don’t want no safe distance from the danger
I don’t want no safe distance from you
Let’s have dark times
I need rain and the thunder
I need to get lost
and I need to wonder
about things I know nothing about
There's so many things I know nothing about

I wanna walk through the woods at night
I'm gonna be scared in the cold
afraid and lonely in the snow
but I wanna light a fire in that stove
and let me be inspired, inspired by that glow
E D A A
of the stars at night as they're shining bright over you
of the stars at night as they're shining bright just for you
A F#m E E
I need the dangers of the night
Life is short, reality is fake
and whatever you do it feels good to have made something
I'm drawing creatures from my dreams
write short, pointless stories in my notebook
and read myself to sleep E D A A
Under stars at night as they're shining bright over me
A F#m E E
Running from the modern world
working 40 hours a week
and stare into a screen until you die from anxiety
and you never felt something
you never felt something real, like:
E D A A
the stars at night as they're shining bright over you
the stars at night as they're shining bright just for you

Capo 6
C and something
I heard a raindrop
but let’s go out
it’s so quiet
the moon is bright
nothing really happens around here
lets follow that trail down
to the lake or anywhere
hope we find the way
you go first
I follow your footsteps in the dark
You are there Jupiter
Think I heard a bird somewhere
Hey little heartbeat
I know you’re there
I can hear you
I can feel your stomping feet
when we took the
Wrong path
through the grass
Hope the moose king lets us pass
the lake shines like silver
reflects the moon
if the moon is silver
where’s the gold
it’s out here somewhere
Think I heard a bird somewhere
Please little night tree
lead us back home
please little night tree
I know you’re out here alone
All the nights we don’t come here to be with you
I know you must be lonely too

We're missing a spoon

Papa told me to buy a white shirt and that's when I knew
that's when I knew
Papa called me about that white shirt and that's when I knew
that I was too late for you
When I was a kid you read me Winnie The Pooh
and when I read it now I hear your voice
My kids laughs just like I did
You'd be so proud to see them too
When Pooh eats the woozels honey
or falls down from the tree
singing "I am a black little rain cloud"
I hope you're up there and can see
Papa told me to buy a white shirt and that's when I knew
that's when I knew
Papa called me on the tram about that white shirt
when I was on my way to you
My kids would laugh at your silly jokes
"Noone leaves the room, we're missing a spoon!"
We could drink sherry together
and talk about old jazz records in the green couch
in your living room
But I was nothing more than a kid back then
and I didn't listen to Nina Simone or Billie Holiday
Papa told me to buy a white shirt and that's when I knew
that's when I knew
Papa called me about that white shirt and that's when I knew
that I was too late for you

In my heart I'm already leaving now
And in my mind I left the modern world behind
City lights are too bright to see the stars
and these city hearts too stressed to even set a spark
but this spark of mine I'm gonna let it shine
in this concrete graveyard they call a town
may our hearts be one
and may wild thunder strike us down
Growing up we needn't even lock the door
we just ran through the summernights never to be bored
took a dive into the river and building huts in the woods
and these neighborhood parties lasted all night through
ya we rode our bikes through the twilight
and the night belonged to us we belonged to the night
we were happy, we were free
we never wanted things to be differently
but growing up you're gonna need a place to stay
and you know that you gotta make every month pay
a lot of different people makes this suburb pretty great
but everyone is too fucking tired to make something out of it
yea the city brings people to their knees
the city was made for banks, malls and money
may our hearts be one
and may wild thunder strike us down
and this spark of mine I'm gonna let it shine
in this concrete graveyard they call a town
may our hearts be one
and may wild thunder strike us down

Plagues will come, floods will rise
wildfires are gonna paint the skies
you look out the window and mistake airplanes for fireflies
G C D G - D
I miss the dark times, I need to turn off the alarm in my head now
throw my phone into a hole and never get a new one
go where police helicopters never gone before
go where the wild rivers roar
go where wild boars stares up to the sky for the comfort of stars,
see them shine in your eyes now - the lights from your gps
but the battery's out now and you're in the middle of the forest
Be brave, get lost, search for the melody
the stars are singing with the mountains and the fish and the sea
draw silly creatures in your notebook because without you, they just can not be
the story you make up in the night in the tent aren't worth any money
C D G G
so let it be a dark one, like when we rode our bikes to that beach down
where turtles laid eggs after sundown and wild dogs chased each other in the sand and in the backstreets
I remember your smile playing cards on the balcony, feeding homeless cats and how we got attacked in the alley
back then they didn't have lights on the road from Zakinthos to Kalamaki, but I guess they have it now
Fancy hotels where you can watch the world slowly die from a safe distance
plastic lights in all colors that go on and off and on and off and wish you a merry christmas
from the suburbs to the swamplands this land is now cursed
soon the first will be the last and the last will be the first
