sometimes I think about you
and the world war 2 hospital
that we sat upon that night

watching fireworks explode in the sky

it’s hard not to eat fish when you’re in saint malo
but I remember that pizza place
they gave me lemon sorbet with vodka on a plate
named after some colonel that died in world war 2

But everything was safe when we were in Saint Malo

Except the tide

when we said goodbye to you
we went to see the beaches where they started fighting back against the nazis
and we met a guy outside a bar
he had a thousand medals and a scar
He was more drunk than he was alive
and the bartender said he wasted his life
